Preparing the unemployed for a career in renewable energy in Amsterdam

Due to COVID19, a lot of people have lost their jobs. There are still career opportunities on the technical job market. The request for skilled technical workers in renewable energy will be growing in the coming years. Bureau Brand executed a design research project together with the VTi Amsterdam to make a blueprint for an unemployed who starts a new career in renewable energy.

“VTi Amsterdam is a collaboration between vocational education, business, government and trade associations in Amsterdam.”

The design

The design research was done with all the stakeholders involved in re-training the unemployed and giving them the relevant internship experience to discover if a career as a technician in renewable energy would want to pursue.

Based on the results and insights from the design research, we visualised the participants learning journey and internship experience. We took inspiration from technical and electrical drawings to visualise the re-training experience.

No shortcuts. Highly recommended”

“I have worked with Jeroen and Marce on several projects, the most demanding one a difficult customer journey and stakeholder mapping project for a client in Amsterdam. I don’t want another studio. Why? Ofcourse because they have the skills to deliver great work on time, on budget. But more important they are a pleasure to work with. Very creative, not afraid to ask the hard questions, always looking for the absolute best result.
