Johan Murillo the founder of Costa Rican leadership and human-centred design agency approached Unbeaten Studio with the question to create a website for Lead&Play with the following challenge "Have leaders & teams experience & understand how to add value by unlocking their knowledge & creativity through human-centred design and play” In addition, Johan wanted to improve the hiring process of Lead & Play.
The design
Lead& Play uses both Human-Centred Design and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® to develop creative leadership. The goal was to emphasise the play part while keeping a professional look for the intended client. When we design websites we go beyond the actual web design itself. In this case, we added graphical elements to show the playfulness and visualise the Lead&Play process Explore, Co-create and Execute.
We designed a website that is colourful yet simple and clean. Using primary colours amplifies the power of play. The Lead&Play logo is a strong visual mark in itself. It allowed playing around and switching the words “lead and play” and inverting colours without losing its strength.
Lead&Play and Unbeaten Studio developed a unique bond while we were going through the design process together. While we were designing the website, we talked a lot about design: what it meant for us as businesses working in the design field, what the relevance of design is in today’s world and how we should use it in the future. Designing something for a client for us is often the starting point of a long-lasting relationship.
